Preserving the rich musical history of Historically Black Colleges and Universities
ABOUT US
The HBCU Alumni Choir is a non-profit organization consisting of individuals who attended Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and strive to advance and uphold its institutions' rich musical heritage while engaging through service with the broader community and supporting the next generation of musicians. This purpose is achieved through four main pillars: preservation, outreach, scholarship, and alumni engagement.
Preservation - to foster a sense of pride and identity among its members and the wider HBCU community
Outreach - to engage with the broader community by performing, collaborating with other organizations, volunteering, and sharing the joy of music with people of all backgrounds.
Scholarship - offering scholarships to students currently attending or aspiring to attend HBCUs, as well as organizing workshops, mentoring programs, and other initiatives to help students develop their musical skills and pursue their passions.
Alumni engagement - The choir serves as a way to connect HBCU alumni across different generations and geographic locations through arts/social events, networking opportunities, and other activities.
Our organization's first performance was at the Chicago Bulls Black History Month HBCU Game!
MEMBERS
Proud to be ambassadors of the rich culture and tradition of HBCUs. Our members are former choir voices or just passionate about singing, and we work together to create a sound that resonates with audiences of all ages. Our choir is open to anyone who wants to be a part of our family and use their voice to make a positive impact in the community.
